Reading Common Hebrew Names

In previous lessons, we have seen how to pronounce a Hebrew word by spelling out the word letter by letter and vowel by vowel, starting from the right and working your way towards the left. We have looked at the very shortest Hebrew words with just two letters, then three letters, then four letters, then longer words of five, six and seven letters. These lessons not only build up your experience and confidence in reading Hebrew, but they also give you a solid foundation of common Hebrew vocabulary.

In this lesson, we take a look at words which are common Hebrew names of people and places, taken from the Hebrew Bible. Some of these will be slightly different from the names you will be familiar with in English.

It is best to go through this lesson several times, so that you get as much practice and exposure to these Hebrew names as possible.
